March Madness
It’s MARCH MADNESS, people, and I’m not talking about basketball! (sorry for any fans that was mislead by my post title) It’s madness because so much is going on right now.
As you may or may not know, my husband and 2 furbabies moved across the country last month. I have been unpacking, settling into the house and doing some demolition in my future studio. The previous owner had an office (now my studio) with built-in desks and shelves on all 4 walls! So, the hubs and I got out the power tools and went to work! Removing all that really opened up the space. I left 2 sets of shelves up for my art supplies. But, I already had desks that I like to use so the built-ins came out! As of today, the walls have been patched and sanded. In the next couple of days, they will be primed and painted. And then I will be moving my stuff in and setting up the studio.
I am running about 3 weeks behind my anticipated goals of creating content for all of you kind friends… but, I am not beating myself up about it. We did just move across the country! (my excuse for everything right now. lol)
The next couple of months are filled with a lot of busy, too. All great family things, but it’s going to keep us busy. My oldest stepson got engaged (YAY!), my middle stepson graduates college, my in-laws will be here for a week, we will be back and forth to STL multiple times and I currently have 2 friends visiting on different weekends. And that’s only April and May! whew! I just got tired thinking about it! ha! Seriously, though, it’s truly all blessings. It fills my heart with happiness.
After the craptastic year we had last year, I am so hopeful of what this year is going to bring. I have so many ideas brewing that I can’t wait to share with all of you! Also, plan on more educational blog posts coming, too. I like sharing personal things with you, but I will also be posting tips and techniques, freebie-downloads and other goodness to mix it up!
Our home is slowly coming together. I hope to show full before and after photos in the coming months, as well as a video tour! Those posters on the wall are ones I picked up from Moulin Rouge while in Paris a few years ago. It seems I have finally found the perfect spot for them. All rugs shown are HomeGoods finds, as well as both vases on the dining table, the blue chair, end table and throw pillows.
On the left below is how the previous owner used this space (his photo). He owned his own company and used it as an office with 2 other employees. The space has progressed to what you see on the right. Patched and sanded walls ready to be painted! Also, you may see a difference in lighting between the middle and right photo. I talk about studio lighting here.
Harrison and I have been having fun exploring Chicago. We took an Urban Art Workshop at Native 312 Studio recently and had so much fun. (and for any of you paying attention this is part of my research phase of some exciting things to come later this year)
Finally, I will leave you with some recent work of mine. A chunky journal, collage with a lot of texture, eyes with much emotion and some scratchy scribbles makes this heart happy.
Please comment below and let me know what you are working on and how your spring is looking?
Much love,
Beth
