From Stencil to Painted Portrait & Color Studies
Hello friends!
I wanted to share a process video with you. If you happen to remember my fun spray-painting session from a couple of weeks ago, then you may recognize one of the stenciled faces. I thought it would be fun to use this stenciled face in a portrait exercise. I had fun with all the colors and painting in her face making her more my style.
This is a great way, too, for you to try painting portraits if you’ve wanted to try but don’t know where to start. You can even use a pencil or pen to stencil the face onto your page (no spray paints necessary!)
Check out the video to see how I went from the left stenciled face to the right, painted portrait! You’ll also notice the ‘brayer & paper trick’ to minimize collage bubbles.
Also, I am proud to announce I have just launched my newsletter. Some of you may have even come from there. If you have, thank you for signing up! If you haven’t, feel free to scroll to the bottom and sign up. You’ll receive ‘Rescue from the Storm’ print. It looks great matted and framed, or you can even use it as collaged elements in art pieces that you make for yourself.
In other colorful news, I took a couple of classes at the Virtual Art Summit and took my color knowledge to the next level. Here are some fun color studies I’ve done over the last couple of weeks.
I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July weekend and heading into another great couple of days!
Much love & creativity,
Beth
